The Society holds a series of competitions during the season. There are series for both Monochrome and Colour Prints and also Projected Images. Each of these lead to a Champion in the discipline.
There is also a competition for Nature images which requires a set of three PDIs to be submitted on a theme.
The President’s Competition is for a set of three PDIs depicting a theme set by the Immediate Past President.
All these competitions are judged by independent judges from outside the club.
Whilst the competitive element is important within the competitions they also help to give advice to improve the standards of the members photography.
The normal competition rules have been suspended because of the Covid-19 situation. Special temporary rules have been put in place for the 2020-21 season. The only changes from the normal rules are in the Prints rules. Entry will be for unmounted prints with a maximum paper size of A4. These will be sent to the judge and destroyed by the judge after the competition. An exact copy digital image of the print must be sent to the Competition Secretary at the time of entry. These PDIs will be shown on the night (via Zoom) as the Judge comments on the actual print. Click/Tap on "View Competition Rules to see the new temporary rules.
